Vinnies giving young people in Roma a hand up

13 April 2017

St Vincent de Paul Society have launched a new education program in Roma aimed at disengaged youth.

The 20 week ‘Get Set for Work’ program will provide 12 young people aged between 15-19 years of age with the opportunity to earn a Certificate II in Rural Operations.

The program is being run through TAFE, and Vinnies will provide students with support to ensure they remain engaged, help them achieve and transition them into work or further study opportunities.

The participants will learn interview skills, how to write a CV and cover letter, and learn financial resilience and budget tips. As part of the program, they will also undertake work experience in areas of rural operations including station work, tractor and quad bike riding.
