Vinnies launches first Retail Ambassador

7 March 2017

After a big 2016 with 15 new shop openings, Vinnies has announced Queensland media personality and journalist Kylie Lang as its first ever retail ambassador.

The partnership will see Ms Lang promote Vinnies shops and the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society in Queensland.

Vinnies spokeswoman Cassandra Ashton said the new partnership would help Vinnies drive traffic into shops and, in turn, support its community work.

“Funds raised through our shops are crucial to the support we can provide to people in need. Be it a blanket in winter, some food or a roof over someone’s head, it’s only possible through the support of donors and the funds raised in our shops,” said Ms Ashton.

Vinnies has 144 shops all around Queensland, with plans to open many more around the state in 2017.

“We’re a big retailer, not just in Queensland but around the country. We have many more shops than most big brand chain stores, with a presence in local communities in metro, regional and remote Australia,” said Ms Ashton. “We’re overjoyed to have Kylie on board to help us raise the profile of op-shopping, and Vinnies shops in particular.”

Ms Lang, Associate Editor of The Courier Mail Editor and a TV and radio personality, is an avid op-shopper and is excited to be helping Vinnies raise the profile of their shops.

“I love the fun of op-shopping – it’s never a predictable experience because there’s something new every time,” she said. “It is also an excellent way to live more sustainably – rehoming or repurposing pre-loved goods, whether homewares, furniture or clothing.”

Ms Lang is a familiar face at a number of Vinnies shops around Brisbane, and loves the quirky finds and individuality that op-shopping affords.

“You can find some amazing bargains, and put together a look that no one else will have,” said Ms Lang.
