Art Exhibition Brings Income & Inclusion for People on the Margins
A Redfern gallery is currently exhibiting artworks by people assisted through Vinnies’ Ozanam Learning Centre to get through tough times.
The inner-city centre offers a holistic range of health, education and life skills programs – including the provision of a fully equipped art studio. Those who’ve taken advantage of the creative space are currently sharing their art with the public at 107 Projects in Redfern.
“Our artists come from all walks of life, and their artworks offer a window into such a diverse range of experiences and perspectives,” said Clare Wynne, Senior Operations Manager at Vinnies’ Ozanam Learning Centre.
“Ozanam Learning Centre is open to everyone and it is a great place for people to come and reconnect with community, particularly if they are feeling isolated as well as reconnect with their passions.”
25 artists are exhibiting 100 artworks at the exhibition, which features various media including drawings, paintings and pottery. The artworks are available for purchase, with proceeds going back to the artist (and a small commission going to the 107 Projects gallery).
The Ozanam Learning Centre Art Show launched on Wednesday 14 August, with the exhibition continuing up to Sunday 25 August. 107 Projects is located at 107 Redfern Street, Redfern.
Ozanam Learning Centre is at 99 Forbes Street, Wolloomooloo. You can find out more about its programs by calling (02) 9358 8170 or visiting www.vinnies.org.au.
