26 October 2022

Customers around the state are invited to discover a treasure to make their own as part of the 100 Years of Vinnies Shops celebrations this week and next week.

Select Vinnies Shops are featuring items tagged with a golden ticket from leading brands including Alex and Trahanas, Bassike, Blanca, Double Rainbouu, Dylan Kain, Ellery, Furla, Henne, Jac + Jack, Jets, Kathmandu, Lee Mathews, Matteau, Mulberry, Mulberry x Acne Studios, Reliquia, Sarah Jane Clarke, Seafolly, Shona Joy, plus many more who have donated a generous amount of brand-new goods.

Feature items are available for purchase at Vinnies Shops in Armidale, Belmont North, Bondi Beach, Brookvale, Casino, Dubbo, Paddington, Parkes, Picton, Newtown, Springwood, Sutherland, and Wagga Wagga.

The entire community can also get in on the action by making a purchase from any Vinnies Shop until the end of next week and scanning the QR code at the point of sale to go into the running to win a vintage Chanel handbag or a Link statement necklace from Rylan Studio.

“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our 100th birthday by inviting everyone to visit their local Vinnies Shop and discover a treasure to make their own,” Jack de Groot, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW CEO, said.

“Vinnies Shops have grown from humble beginnings to becoming an institution of the Australian retail market, in part, due to the unique shopping experience that you can’t match elsewhere.

“The great appeal of Vinnies Shops is that you never know what you might find, but when you do, you can give an item a second life and support the community at the same time.

“There are more than 220 Vinnies Shops throughout the state which are powered by a fantastic team of volunteers dedicated to supporting the work we do assisting people in the community experiencing disadvantage and hardship,” Mr de Groot said.

“Sales from items sold in Vinnies Shops are used to enable our members to provide assistance to people experiencing disadvantage,” St Vincent de Paul Society NSW State Council President, Paul Burton, said.

“Revenue raised also allows our services to support people with crisis accommodation, healthcare, help finding long-term housing, educational programs, and much more.

“Vinnies Shops are also a great way of recycling pre-loved clothing, so when you buy there you are having a positive effect on the people in your community and the world around you.

“It’s amazing to think what began as a member-driven project in 1922 has become as large as it has today, while still retaining the exact same purpose and spirit as it had in its beginnings,” Mr Burton said.
