Shop Preloved from Home – Vinnies Shop Now on eBay

Since the coronavirus pandemic began, consumer behaviour has seen a significant shift. At the start of April, Australian fashion and leisure sales dropped by 18% while food delivery services increased by 59%*. As we all stayed in to help stop the spread, and considered the financial impacts of what was to come, priorities shifted and physical shops began to temporarily close their doors.

As isolation stretched on, shoppers took to online stores to get their retail therapy. A recent survey found that older Australians, and people who hadn’t shopped online before, were getting on board for the first time. According to Australia Post**, the 2020 Easter long weekend was the biggest online shopping weekend for Australia on record, overtaking Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

Despite the ease of clicking ‘add to cart’ from the comfort of home, for many of our customers there was just no replacement for the op-shop experience. “Can't wait until you open again” said one of our customers, Cassandra, “It was my little Saturday morning pick me up!” As more consumers are becoming environmentally conscious, the second-hand market has grown 21 times faster than the classic retail market over the past 3 years***.

Our shops have now begun the process of re-opening, and have seen a really positive response from the community, with socially distant queues outside our Newtown shop on its opening weekend. As we are gradually re-opening all 240 shops across the state, and many vulnerable members of our community are continuing to self-isolate, we know that not all our customers will be able to get straight back to their local Vinnies.

That’s why we’re excited to launch our new Vinnies eBay shop, to make the thrift experience accessible for those who can’t yet get in store. Vinnies is now online to bring the designer clothing, accessories and collectibles found in our stores at the click of a button.

Items for sale have been generously donated to our shops by our supporters, and all funds raised help support vulnerable people through our network of services and support hubs in their local communities.

Check out our new eBay Shop today, for a curated range of classics and designer pieces delivered to your door.
