Connecting with Family this National Families Week

Friday 12 May 2020

If there is one thing we all know, it's the importance of family. National Families Week is held every year between 15 and 21 May celebrating families in all their shapes and forms. Due to the current situation around COVID-19 and the importance of physical distancing, this year’s event will be celebrated at home.

This year’s theme, “Stronger Families, Stronger Communities” is accentuated by the current pandemic, and reinforces the key role families play in supporting each other and providing care.

Vinnies NSW Community Linkers are encouraging families to celebrate NFW at home this year, creating a calendar of fun activities and questions that will get you and your family together and thinking about the role family and communities have in strengthening each other.

If you can’t see your loved-ones in person this week, reach out to extended family, those living overseas and friends to share in the enjoyment of the activities via your video-conferencing app of choice.

Enjoy this free calendar of activities and tag us @VinniesNSW on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #nationalfamiliesweek to celebrate. We look forward to seeing how you are celebrating your family and community at home!

What is a Community Linker?

Community Linkers work with people to build capacity and support them to fulfil their goals, hopes and dreams. We also work with organisations and businesses to support them to be more accessible and inclusive.

We understand that everyone is different, so we tailor our approach to suit each individual. The service is FREE and does not require a formal assessment process.

Community Linkers are available to chat Monday to Friday and can be contacted on: capacitybuildingprojects@vinnies.org.au or 02 8622 0456
