Jack de Groot Recognised in Australian Social Sector
Tuesday 3 March 2020
The social sector is filled with passionate individuals who have dedicated their careers to make positive change in the social community. This year, our Vinnies NSW CEO, Jack de Groot, has been recognised as one of the top 25 most inspiring and influential individuals in the social services sector.
Pro Bono Australia’s Impact 25 Awards recognise and honour extraordinary people who take action for the greater good of their communities. Nominated for "embracing new social enterprise opportunities and building for the future” and “leading the call for a government commitment to social and affordable housing", Jack was selected as one of the top 25 of over 430 nominees.
With a long history in the Not-For-Profit sector, Jack has led compassionate organisations like Vinnies including Caritas Australia and St Vincent’s Health Australia, and is currently on the Board of Directors for both St John of God Health Care and The University of Notre Dame Australia.
Jack’s leadership is inspired by the Vinnies tradition of addressing poverty and inequality, which he upholds while driving innovation for a sustainable and practical future. Over 28,000 people voted for this year’s winners, and we are grateful for all those who cast their vote to support Jack.
The Impact 25 winners will be celebrated at the 2019 Impact 25 Awards night on 19 March, when the judges will also reveal who has been chosen as the innovator, collaborator and influencer of the year.
