Generous Donations Helping Community Wellness

Wednesday 13 May 2020

Since the coronavirus pandemic began, the increase in poor mental health, fear and loneliness is palpable, and our members and staff have seen a significant rise in the need of their local communities. With winter around the corner and the cold already setting in, coordinators at our support centres across Sydney have started collecting Warm & Wooly Wellness Packs.

These packs are to help lift the spirits of local people we assist and those supported through our homelessness services, to remind everyone that they are valued and cared for through this tough time.

On Friday morning, the team from Our Big Kitchen generously donated Wellness Packs full of personal care items, moisturisers, chocolates, deodorants and more to our team in Rozelle, who have been organising and distributing these packs to as many people as they can reach.

Our Big Kitchen are one of our amazing supporters, who have sponsored our Vinnies CEO Sleepout for several years. This year, for the first time, business and community leaders across Australia will join together for one big interactive and live-streamed night in the cold. While usually Our Big Kitchen provide the soup for our participants on the night, like us they are getting creative and finding new ways to support local communities doing it tough.

This year, participants can get involved in our CEO Sleepout from home in three ways that represent common forms of homelessness: sleeping in the car, on the couch or outside in the backyard. All funds raised go towards our services for people at risk or experiencing homelessness such as crisis accomodation, food and counselling. If you know someone who should get involved, nominate them today
