Donate Items for People in Need through NSW Hotels
Thursday 23 April 2020
Every two years, NSW hoteliers band together to fundraise for Vinnies’ homelessness services through a gala dinner. This year, those plans have been dashed by coronavirus – but our supporters at Hotels Have Hearts have pulled through with a new way to help people in need.
Ten hotels and pubs across the state will become drop-off points for members of the public to donate quality clothes, blankets and accessories. Our Vinnies team will then clean and sanitise the items, before distributing them to the people we assist or to our retail network to be sold at Vinnies Shops when they can re-open, raising vital funds for our many services helping people through homelessness and poverty.
How to donate
Please pack your donations into a sealed garbage bag for safe processing. Simply drive up to a participating venue, stay in your car, and a hotel staff member will come and collect your items. The staff members will be dressed in appropriate personal protective gear, like masks and gloves, for everyone’s safety.
You can donate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 11am-3pm, at the following 10 venues:
- The Royal Hotel, Leichhardt
- The Australian Hotel, The Rocks
- Hotel Bondi
- Bella Vista Hotel
- The Plumpton Hotel, Glendenning
- The Rocksia Hotel, Arncliffe
- The Gregory Hills Hotel
- The Toormina Hotel, Coffs Harbour
- The Willow Tree Inn, Willow Tree
- The Palm & Pawn, Wagga Wagga
Don’t see a location near you above? Don’t worry – we are still collecting quality donations as per usual in our charity bins, located across NSW. You can also donate to Vinnies Donation Stations in greater Sydney.
From all of us at Vinnies to the Hotels Have Hearts committee and our generous supporters – thank you for helping us to be there for those in need during COVID-19.
