Record number of registrations for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout

Just two weeks remain until the Vinnies CEO Sleepout will give a group of over 370 top CEOs and executives a brief glimpse into life for those experiencing homelessness.

Vinnies NSW CEO Jack de Groot was very pleased with these results saying, “This is going to be my first Sleepout as Vinnies NSW CEO and what a first event it will be!

“I am blown away by the record-breaking number of prominent leaders coming together to not only raise money for our services, but to improve their understanding of those who have been much less fortunate in life.”

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout this year has attracted CEOs from across different sectors and, as another first for the Sleepout, with a particular focus on sporting codes including AFL, cricket, NRL, hockey and soccer.

Todd Greenberg, CEO NRL will be joining the likes of Kelle Storey Sydney Swans, Sam Graham AFL NSW & ACT, and Andrew Jones Cricket NSW, to name a few.

Todd explained, “Like all the CEOs coming along to this year’s Sleepout, we want to be able to give back to those in need. Homelessness is a growing issue and I know how vital Vinnies is for those experiencing hard times. It doesn’t matter what sport you follow, homelessness could affect anyone. Homelessness doesn’t have a postcode or a sporting code.”

The financial impact of the CEO Sleepout cannot be undervalued with a target for NSW alone standing at $2.3 million. These funds go directly into Vinnies frontline services helping people experiencing disadvantage.

“Vinnies is synonymous with ‘hand up’ assistance for people experiencing homelessness. Giving a hand up to those most vulnerable in our society is at the very core of what we do and the Sleepout allows us to do this more than any other fundraising event,” said Mr de Groot.

“It also gives us the opportunity to highlight the main underlying factor that results in homelessness, namely the lack of affordable housing. CEOs can join us in calling for all levels of government, in collaboration with institutional investors and the not-for-profit sector, to increase the affordable housing stock and as well as the necessary wrap-around services.”

Some of the other high profile CEOs who will be attending this year include Brad Banducci Woolworths, Mia Freedman and Kylie Rogers MamaMia, Steve Traplin Groupon, Sam McDonagh Airbnb, and James Brindley Lion Beer Australia and many more.
