This Wednesday, 28 October, is the launch of the Thread Together Clothing Hub @Vinnies in Eden.

The hub will be operated by volunteer members of the St Vincent de Paul Society out of their conference space in Imlay St, Eden.

“Members of our community who come to us for assistance receive help in many formats including food and help with paying utility bills,” said John Feint, President of the St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn.

“Now we can also provide brand new clothes to people who really need them.”

People who seek assistance through the St Vincent de Paul Society may be referred to the Thread Together Clothing Hub@Vinnies. They will then be able to make an appointment to receive the items of clothing they need.

Thread Together is the only Australian organisation that sources new excess clothing from fashion retailers and redistributes them to those who need it most.

“Thread Together is the most ethical response to fashion excess and is grateful for all the clothing we  receive, the thousands of corporate volunteers that assist us to pick and pack with purpose, as well as the network of charities and social service agencies that assist us to clothe individuals, families and communities in need,” says Thread Together CEO, Anthony Chesler.

“The Thread Together Clothing Hub @Vinnies will be particularly invaluable in Eden, as it was an area considerably impacted by the bushfires,” said Mr Feint.

“It will help to give those affected a sense of normalcy, renewed sense of dignity and pride as they are able to access a new wardrobe. Vinnies believes this will be an incredibly important partnership that will greatly benefit an area continuing to experience hardship,” he said.

“Thread Together believes that clothing plays a vital role in creating brighter futures for those who need it most. The Clothing Hub will be stocked with brand new clothing and customers will be invited to shop via referral to choose a new wardrobe,” said Mr Chesler.

“Vinnies has been proudly partnering with Thread Together in Canberra for the past two years and are pleased to be able to extend the relationship,” said Mr Feint.
