To mark the inaugural ‘Dressed by Vinnies Day’, Vinnies Bega will host a fashion parade at Bega Country Club  at 6pm on Saturday 27 October.

As well as seeing the best that Vinnies has to offer, the event will include lucky door prizes, raffles, a trading table, light supper and entertainment. Tickets are $20 and available from Vinnies Bega, 130 Gipps St, or at the door.

All this week, customers of Vinnies Bega will be encouraged to enter their receipt into the draw to win a $20 Vinnies voucher. If they’re present for the draw at the parade on Saturday, that prize will become $50.

‘This is truly a community event. Models have been sourced from all over Bega, and beyond. Prizes have generously been donated from over a dozen local retailers*, and the funds raised from the event are returned to the community through the work the Society does in the area,’ said Lindsay Rae, Director of Centres, St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn.

Friday 26 October is ‘Dressed by Vinnies Day’, an inaugural event being promoted nationally by the St Vincent de Paul Society.

‘Dressed by Vinnies Day is a really easy way for organisations to create ongoing support for the good works of the Society with very little effort,’ said Mr Rae.

‘The profits made by Vinnies shops are returned to the community through a variety of Vinnies services to help break the cycle of poverty. Last year the St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn assisted over 40,000 people,’ he said.

‘Our shops bring in much needed funds to Vinnies but a huge percentage of the population have never visited our shops. Dressed by Vinnies Day simply encourages people to visit a Vinnies store and purchase an item – or whole outfit – to wear on the 26th.’

‘Competitions are encouraged, and we have Vinnies vouchers that can be offered as prizes,’ said Mr Rae.

‘By holding an event that encourages people to visit Vinnies, you are making an ongoing investment in our local community,’ said Mr Rae.

‘Once people have shopped at Vinnies we are confident they will be back. With more people shopping at Vinnies there will be more money available to assist the marginalised and build a much better community for us all,’ he said.
