Get involved through school

Getting involved with Vinnies at school can be life changing for young people and the people they assist.

The Mini Vinnies program introduces primary school children to social justice issues and the good works of the St Vincent de Paul Society, giving them the opportunity to participate in a variety of meaningful activities that have a positive impact on others.

Mini Vinnies groups are facilitated by teaching staff and meet on a regular basis in their school environment to share ideas, have fun and support others in their local community.

The Vinnies vision of ‘See, Think, Do’ is a safe and effective way to develop young people’s awareness of issues in their local community, to think and talk about their own values and to participate in activities that make a difference to the lives of others.

See - what can you see around you that isn’t fair?

Think - reflect on your values, and share your thoughts with others.

Do - what can you do to help others and address injustice?

Sydney Vinnies High School programs provide opportunities for High School students to:

  • Develop awareness of social justice issues through workshops and social justice events
  • Take action that improves the lives of others by participating in Vinnies volunteering activities facilitated by teachers at their school
  • Support the good works of Vinnies through fundraising and coordinating Winter and Christmas Appeals.

Students can become members of the St Vincent de Paul Society by joining a High School Conference which meets regularly within the school environment and focuses on social justice issues.

Sydney Vinnies gives young people the opportunity to unleash their potential to make a difference!
