The Vinnies Community Sleepout aims to raise awareness of homelessness and also give community groups and individuals an opportunity to crucial funds for Vinnies’ homeless services. There are more than 100,000 Australians who experience homelessness each night.
Anybody who lives in the NT can see that homelessness is a huge problem. According to 2011 Census data, 730 per 10,000 people experience homelessness in the NT - compared to the average in Australia of 43 per 10,000.
The St Vincent de Paul Society is asking you to get involved and hold a Sleepout in your community. Check out the NSW page via the link for finding an information kit on holding a Vinnies Community Sleepout which includes a step-by-step guide to staging your own Sleepout.
Vinnies Community Sleepouts provide groups with a real way to make a difference. They offer an opportunity for people to get involved and learn what life is like for those living on the streets.
All funds raised by the Vinnies Community Sleepouts will go towards supporting Vinnies homeless services in the NT.
