The Night Patrol provides a mobile outreach service for people experiencing homelessness almost every day of the year. The current Vinnies Night Patrol Van has been operating in Canberra for over 16 years and provides essential material items, light refreshments and friendly faces.
The growing concern of homelessness has prompted Vinnies to take further steps to address the issues of disadvantage that people in our community are facing. With the current van covering areas on the north side of town, the new van will allow us to cover the south side.
1) North Van
The current van visits the Dickson Shopping Centre, the Cube Area in Civic and McDonalds, Garema Place in Civic.
2) South Van
The new van started operation on Wednesday 18 October 2017 and will initially go out three nights a week, Wednesdays to Fridays from 7:15pm - 8:45pm.
Wednesdays: Tuggeranong Walk-In Centre, Cnr Anketell St & Pitman St, Greenway & Westfield McDonalds, Woden
Thursdays: Visitors Information Centre, Queanbeyan & Westfield McDonalds, Woden
Fridays: Tuggeranong Walk-In Centre, Cnr Anketell St & Pitman St, Greenway & Westfield McDonalds, Woden
The Vans goes out every night, except New Year's Eve, Good Friday and Christmas night.
