Support Centre

St Vincent de Paul Society’s Queensland Support Centre is situated in Spring Hill.

What is the St Vincent de Paul Society Support Centre?
The Support Centre provides immediate assistance for the homeless or those at risk of becoming homeless by providing food and clothing vouchers for the Society’s Centres of Charity to honour.

The Support Centre can offer advice, bread, canned goods, clothing vouchers and other material support.

The Support Centre receives Emergency Relief funds to assist those in need. Many goods are donated by the community for which the centre is very grateful.  Fundraising by local schools with canned food drives and generous donations from organisations such as Second Bite who redistribute surplus fresh fruit and vegetables, allow the Support Centre to give fresh produce to those in need.

Who can access the Support Centre?
The service is focused on assisting the homeless without a fixed address, especially for those needing overnight food assistance.
The Support Centre also acts as a backup service for Conferences that are unable to attend a home visit.
The Support Centre assists people who have been referred from other support agencies, including Red Cross, MDA, Romero Centre and Micah. Referrals/ appointments from these agencies are necessary for referees to access the Support Centre. Many referees have difficulty with speaking English. Personnel details of clients (e.g. identification, date of birth, address) have to be clearly established before any assistance is provided.

What are the benefits of accessing the Support Centre?
Immediate food/clothing, other assistance.

Can I volunteer for the Support Centre?
Yes, people can volunteer for this service with training provided.
