Vinnies volunteers run various activities through schools and outside of school hours. The latter include Buddies Day and Five2L8 for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. These are fun activities where kids can have fun and find support.

What is Buddies Day?

The Buddies Day program offers a “fun day out” to children from disadvantaged backgrounds aged between 5 and 12 years old.

How often is it held?

Usually on the last Sunday of each month.

What do they do?

Activities include rock climbing, fish feeding, going to the movies, live music, theatre events, games in the park or anything that is fun or makes you smile.

Why volunteer?

What is Five2L8?

This is a mentoring program for youth aged between 13 and 16 years old from disadvantaged backgrounds. There are separate boys and girls Five2L8 groups but both programs are about bringing joy to teenagers’ lives, having fun, developing their self-esteem and helping them make new friends.

How often is it held?

Camps are occasionally held, but most relationships develop on Friday night evenings. Friday night gatherings are held on the last Friday of each month.

What do they do?

Activities include fishing, arts and craft, camping, and go-carting.

Why volunteer?
