What is the service?

The Southern Highlands Homeless Service incorporates:

  • Bowral Youth Refuge – Provides crisis accommodation and support for young people aged 14-18 years old. Bowral Youth Refuge has 6 beds available, 3 for young women and 3 for young men;
  • Pathways Mobile Casework Team – Provides support to people of all ages who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of experiencing homelessness through holistic casework, transitional housing and advocacy;
  • Adolescent and Family Counsellor – Counsellors work closely with adolescents and families at risk by working to re-establish relationships, and where possible keep young people in the family home.

The services are available to people living in the Wollondilly and Wingecarribee Shires.

Where is the service located?

Southern Highlands Homelessness Services have offices located in Bowral but staff undertake outreach work throughout local LGA.

What are the benefits of accessing the service?

Southern Highlands Homelessness Services support people experiencing homelessness and look at the underlying issues causing it, utilisation of holistic case management to ensure long term sustainable outcomes, reconciliation with family and relatives.  Support with accommodation, employment, mental health and medical issues

Can I volunteer to assist at the service?

Yes you can volunteer to provide support to individuals and families in a variety of ways such as life skill development, advocacy and companionship.
