What is the Social Recreation Program?
This program run by the CDAH Social Recreation assists people who live with a diagnosed mental illness, who are socially isolated as a result of their illness or other circumstances.
Where is it located?
The program is located at Warrawong, activities are based at the North Wollongong Scout Hall North Wollongong.The program is based on a recovery approach and the group go on social outings to the cinema, gardens, tourist venues, walks, tennis, art galleries, museums and factories. Outings may include a barbeque in a park, beach or at the hall and the group go to local clubs for a meal.
Who benefits from the Social Recreation Program?
The people who benefit from the program are the group members who live with a mental illness in the Wollongong Region, their carers and families and the volunteers.
Can I volunteer for this program?
Yes, you can volunteer: volunteering roles include, group volunteers, bus driver, bus assistant, office administration, fundraiser, tour guide.
