What is the Tom McGee Holiday Flats?
The Wollongong Diocese operates two sets of holiday flats on the South Coast, for families experiencing disadvantage that may not have had the opportunity for themselves and their children to go on a holiday. The Tom McGee Holiday Flats in Gerroa comprise of three separate units with each unit able to accommodate six people for families in need of respite.
A local committee of St Vincent de Paul Society conference members also provide assistance and support to holidaymakers if needed.
Who can access this service?
Referrals to the service are made by St Vincent de Paul Society Conference members who carry out home visitation work across NSW. If any member feels the people they are assisting would benefit from a holiday the person is encouraged to contact the Wollongong Central Council Office and make a booking.
Where are the Tom McGee Holiday Flats located?
The holiday flats are located at Gerroa, overlooking and within walking distance to Seven Mile Beach.
What are the benefits of accessing the service?
The holiday flats provide respite for families from stresses and struggles they may face daily. It also gives an opportunity for families experiencing disadvantage to spend quality time together.
Can I volunteer to assist at the Tom McGee Holiday Flats?
The committee that supports the Flats is made up of St Vincent de Paul Society conference members from Gerringong, Berry and Shoalhaven Head Conferences. Local Conferences always welcome new members. If you would like to join a local Conference please refer to Get Involved page.
