What is the Social Recreation Program?
The program assists people with a mental illness and people who are socially isolated as a result of a mental illness or other circumstances.
Where is it located?
The program and activities are located in Warrawong and the North Wollongong Scout Hall. Based on a recovery approach the group members in the program participate in social activities such as going to the cinema, gardens, tourist venues, walks, tennis, art galleries, museums and factories. Other outings may include a BBQ in the park, beach or hall. The group also visit local clubs for meals.
Who benefits from the Social Recreation Program?
The people who benefit from the program are the group members, their carers, their families and the volunteers.
Can I volunteer for this program?
Yes, you can volunteer. Volunteering roles include group volunteers, bus driver, bus assistant, office administration, fundraiser and tour guide.
