What is Gambling Help?

St Vincent de Paul Gambling Help is a confidential counselling service operating in two locations, Baulkham Hills and Windsor. The service offers individuals face-to-face counselling, referrals and support to family members. Gambling Help is funded by the NSW State Government’s Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR). The Responsible Gambling Fund (RGF) currently funds other treatment services throughout the state. The services are free of charge for people with gambling problems and their families.

Who can access this service?

St Vincent de Paul Gambling Help provides services to people who seek assistance to those who have an issue with gambling. This service is also offered to family and friends who are affected by that of a gambler. It does not treat individuals for whom the primary problem is not gambling, nor does it treat individuals with a history of violence.

Who benefits from the service?

The people benefiting the most will be you and your family. Counselling can aid you to either cut back or stop gambling altogether. We address issues that helped contribute to gambling becoming an issue.

The three main benefits provided by the service are:

  • A range of appropriate treatment approaches to help gamblers cut back or stop gambling are provided.
  • Support for individuals in addressing the problems associated with gambling is provided.
  • Evaluating the extent to which individuals are helped by the counselling they receive.

We are able to work with you, by providing a supportive counselling service, clinical assessment and referral, evidence-based treatment. This service also provides supportive counselling for family members and friends.

Can I volunteer for the Gambling Help service?

Yes, however only administrative positions are available.

Appointment hours are Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.

Outreach services are provided at Windsor. If you need urgent assistant outside our service hours, please contact Gambling Help on 1800 858 858 which operates 24 hours seven days per week.
