Fr Troy Bobbin's involvement in the St Vincent de Paul Society began in his final year of schooling in Canberra in 1979 and he remains passionate about the Society, its members and the work they do to this day.

Fr Troy was born in Boorowa in October 1962 as the youngest of five children of June and Maurice Bobbin. Fr Troy completed cooking and hospitality studies at Reid TAFE College and on completion of his training he worked for a friend in her restaurant while she went overseas for six months. This gave him time to realise cooking was not a career he wanted to pursue. So like all good Canberrans Fr Troy joined the Commonwealth Public Service, where he spent 12 years in the Department of Primary Industry & Energy.

In 1992 Fr Troy went to St Paul's Seminary and completed his training for the priesthood. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1996 and was sent to Tuggeranong as assistant priest. Since then he has been, Parish Priest in both country and city parishes and is currently Parish Priest of the Northern Mission, which has three parishes involved. Fr Troy is currently Chaplain to the National Council of the Society and he is honoured to be able to serve them.
