Paul joined the Society in 1983 as member of a Canberra conference supporting women and children escaping domestic violence. As a young person who had just moved to the city, he found this an eye-opening and rewarding experience.
His professional background is in the spatial sciences and he spent most of his working life in the Australian Public Service in senior leadership roles in the fields of satellite remote sensing, national topographic mapping, marketing and ICT. He was a member of the Geoscience Australia Executive Board and chaired its Audit and Risk and WHS Committees.
In 2012 Paul was appointed CEO of the Society’s Canberra/Goulburn Territory Council. On retiring from this position in 2017 he joined his local Conference in Yass NSW, where he is treasurer.
Paul was appointed to the position of National Treasurer in March 2019 and Chairs the National Council’s Audit Risk and Finance Committee.
