Community Voices is a community choir in Logan that aims to improve the social connections and wellbeing of young people, migrants and refugees who are unemployed and may be on income support. Choir rehearsals are held weekly, with quarterly performances scheduled throughout the year. The choir aims to recruit 100 people, including community members who are interested in singing and helping in whatever capacity they can.
A Vinnies support worker is available to offer wrap around support and referrals for participants to address barriers to employment (i.e. emergency relief, housing/homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, disability, mental health, family matters, legal matters, etc).
The program will be delivered in partnership with Creativity Australia and WISE Employment, and is supported by the Try, Test and Learn Fund – an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
