The Young Parent Program
The Young Parents Program provides outreach support and accommodation to young families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We assist young families who are aged under 25 years, who are pregnant, or with at least one child in majority care. Referrals for Young Parents Program’s outreach and accommodation are only taken through First Point (the centralised intake service for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness). First Point can be contacted on 1800 176 468.
The Young Parents Program’s focus is on the development of life skills and positive parenting skills, with an emphasis on family bonding and attachment. We run a bonding and attachment program called ‘Once upon a Rhyme’ on Friday mornings from 10-11:30am. This free program is full of fun rhymes, songs and story-telling, and morning tea is also provided. Enquires for participation in Once Upon a Rhyme can be made on 6234 7376 or 6234 7423.
