Fundraising (cont)
While our major fundraising appeal for this initiative has closed, we are happy to receive any additional fundraising that you have done/are planning. We will be able to use this to assist with additional expenses that these young people might find difficult to cover while they are visiting us.
Our Trivia Night and Parish Collection kits are also still available. If you would like a copy please contact Bec in the Vinnies WYD08 office.
Retreat / Reflection Resources
The following are some excellent resources for preparing Vincentian Youth/Young Adult Retreats and Reflections. These can be utilised in the lead up to WYD and also post-WYD…
1. The Vinspiration Program. Developed by the FamVin WYD Office. Available at: www.vincentianswyd.org.au under ‘Preparation’ tab.
2. The Life and Times of Blessed Frederic Ozanam. Developed by the NSW SVDP Blessed Frederic Ozanam Institute of Spirituality.
Available in hard copy from NSW SVDP State Council Office in Lewisham.
Available online from www.vincentianswyd.org.au under ‘Preparation’ tab.
3. The Foundations Program. Developed by the SVDP WYD Team. Available on this page under "Foundations".
4. Love and Politics: The Revolutionary Frederic Ozanam. Written by John Honnor. David Lovell Publishing 2007. Can be ordered via Portico Books:

The Companions for the Journey series(below) is an excellent resource and its chapters are very easily translated into retreat sessions. Each chapter is based around a theme that the subject’s life encountered/expresses and provides an opening prayer, some information about how the theme was present in the subjects life, some of the subject’s own words, activity and reflection options around the theme and a closing prayer.
5. Praying with Frederic Ozanam. Written by Ronald Ramson CM under the Companions for the Journey series. Published by St Mary’s Press, Christian Brothers Publications, Winona Minnesota.
Available from the NSW SVDP Literature Committee: Ph (02) 9560 8666.
6. Praying with Vincent de Paul. Written by Ronald Ramson CM under the Companions for the Journey series. Published by St Mary’s Press, Christian Brothers Publications, Winona Minnesota.
Available from the NSW SVDP Literature Committee: Ph (02) 9560 8666.
7. Praying with Louise de Marillac. Written by Audrey Gibson and Kieran Kneaves under the Companions for the Journey series. Published by St Mary’s Press, Christian Brothers Publications, Winona Minnesota. Available from the NSW SVDP Literature Committee: Ph (02) 9560 8666.
8. For some excellent video reflections, please see the Catholic Education Office Melbourne Website. Click through to the ‘RESources’ page and there is some terrific stuff under the ‘Worship’ page. In particular the St Teresa and St Francis of Assisi reflections are very closely related to our Vincentian charism.

Vinnies Youth Vision for WYD08
Vinnies Youth has put together a Vision Statement and set of Aims to shape our approach to WYD08.
Vinnies Youth sees WYD08 as an opportunity and tool to help us do what we are already doing even better!
Vision:
A Society that is young in spirit, full of faith, welcoming to all, focused on loving and serving those
who are disadvantaged and marginalized and above all, not afraid to dream anew.
Aims:
1. Enhancing the Spirituality of our Youth Members and Volunteers
2. Forming relationships with our Twinned brothers and sisters
3. Promotion of Vincentian Youth to the wider Catholic community
4. Strengthening relationships between different generations within the Society.
Foundations – A Preparation Program
As part of our preparation for World Youth Day in our country in 2008, we are have put together a program for Vinnies Youth and Young Adult conferences in the lead up to 2008. Foundations has been distributed to all Youth and Young Adult Conferences in Australia and is also now available here.
Journey of the WYD Cross and Icon (JCI)

Fundraising
Vinnies is committed to ensuring that WYD08 is not just an event for young people who are lucky enough to live in wealthy countries. That’s why we worked hard throughout 2007 to raise funds to assist young people from our twinned countries to attend WYD08, the FamVin Celebration and our Vinnies International Youth Gathering. Thanks to some amazing support from Vinnies members across Australia, we raised enough money to bring 50 young people to WYD from over 18 countries!
