Intro to Vinnies Youth

Are you looking for a way to put your faith into action? Do you want to meet lots of other young people who are making a difference in the world through social justice activities and works? Come along to our Introduction to Vinnies Youth session and you will learn about how 16 – 35 year old members and volunteers of the St Vincent de Paul Society are doing this in 144 countries!

This session will include information on what Vinnies is and how young people have been involved right from the very start. There will be presentations from St Vincent de Paul Youth members from Brazil, the Solomon Islands, Australia and the Philippines. There will also be lots of current youth members around to chat to and answer your questions.
Vinnies Mental Health & Homelessness Forum,

Come and learn more about what it is like for some Australians who experience homelessness or living with Mental Health issues.
This forum will provide the opportunity to listen to some people working in this field, ask questions and challenge yourself about some of the misunderstandings and stereotypes often associated with these issues.

The forum will be facilitated by the St Vincent de Paul Society’s National Research Officer, Jonathan Campton and involve an expert panel of social justice advocates and practitioners. The panel is comprised of Prof Ian Webster, Dr John Falzon, Dr Andy Marks and Sr Myree Harris.
Dr John Falzon is CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia, board member of Australian Council of Social Services and board member of the Federal Government’s Social Inclusion Board.
Professor Ian Webster is an Emeritus Professor of the University of New South Wales, who has for over thirty years worked at the medical clinic at the Matthew Talbot Men’s Hostel in Sydney.
Dr Andy Marks is the Senior Research Officer for the St Vincent de Paul Society in NSW and has recently published a paper entitled “Residents at Risk” about those experiencing last resort housing in caravan parks.
