Vinnies WA supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart including Constitutional Recognition and The Voice to Parliament.
Vinnies WA supports and encourages West Australians to vote YES at the upcoming referendum on 14 October.
In supporting the Voice to Parliament, Vinnies is inspired by Blessed Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the St Vincent de Paul Society, who worked tirelessly throughout his life, in solidarity with vulnerable and disadvantaged citizens, to create a more just and compassionate society.
The upcoming referendum on an Indigenous Voice to Parliament will be an historic event; an unprecedented opportunity to recognise Indigenous Australians as the first inhabitants of this land, and give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people the opportunity to provide advice to Government on matters that directly affect them – no more, no less.
We urge West Australians to say YES to a practical and respectful proposal, and to move forward as one.
