The Society in the Toowoomba Diocesan Central Council covers the full area of the Toowoomba Catholic Diocese.
It is split up into four Regions namely: Toowoomba, Warwick, Dalby and Roma.
The activities of the Society in the Toowoomba Diocesan Central Council include:
Home Visitations and Emergency Relief
The main activity of Society Members is home visitation, and where appropriate, emergency assistance to individuals and families in need. Visitations are undertaken in pairs and follow up visitations are made where necessary. The Society has conferences (branches) of volunteers in most parishes of the Diocesan Central Council. Members of each parish conference meet weekly or fortnightly for prayer and to co-ordinate home visitations.
Hospital, Prison, Nursing Home Visitations
Most conferences visit local hospitals and nursing homes on a regular basis. Communion can be arranged for those Catholic patients who are unable to attend Mass. Society members make weekly visits to inmates at the Westbrook Prison.
Vinnies Centres
The Society operates 14 Centres/Stores in the Toowoomba Diocesan Central Council, which rely on the generosity of people to donate goods to the centres so that those in need can be helped. Conference members can arrange to supply clothing and furniture free of charge to persons in need. The balance is sold to raise money for the purchase of food and other necessary items to assist the less fortunate, and also subsidise other special works of the Society.
Homes for People with an Intellectual Disability
In Toowoomba, the Society manages and provides several homes for people with intellectual disabilities. Support is given to residents in Society-owned properties, people living in their own homes and within the community.
Retirement Village in Roma
The Vincentian Village in Roma provides 14 accommodation units for single retired men who wish to live the life, which they have been accustomed working on properties in Western Queensland. Residents may have their own vegetable gardens and retain pets.
Hostel Accommodation
In country areas, the Society provides crisis accommodation for those who find themselves unable to afford shelter. These facilities are limited by space at times, however the Society will do all in their power to provide accommodation in crisis.
Transport and Shopping Service
This service provides professional transport to many frail aged, disabled, and those with intellectual difficulties. Most of these people live in remote communities with limited access to public transport or relatives to meet their travel requirements. The service is provided to eligible residents of Warwick, Allora, Clifton, Killarney, Pratten and Karara. The coach also takes people to Sunday mass in Warwick using volunteer drivers.
Cornerstone Program - Warwick
This program provides crisis and transistional accomodation to homeless men over the age of 18. Clients are case managed and fully supported in their efforts to enter the private rental market and to live independently. Ongoing assistance is given to maintain new tenancies in an effort to break the cycle of homelessness.
