Quin House is a supported accommodation service for homeless people recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.
Mission Statement Quin House is committed to working for the elimination of the suffering, disadvantage and marginalisation of people who are homeless.
The program offers:
Groups focusing on enhancing interpersonal skills, education, relapse prevention and developing strategies and skills for problem situations;
Individual counselling;
Development of goal-oriented case plans;
Assistance to access resources within the community; and
Support to facilitate interaction between the individual and thier environment.
Objectives
To provide an accessible drug and alcohol free environment which supports the individual needs of the men.
To provide therapeutic and educational counselling, relapse prevention, coping skills training and group work.
To build relationships with the men that are non-judgemental, trusting and enabling.
To develop case plans that have a holistic focus in order to match presenting and emerging needs.
To advocate with, and on behalf of, service users in order to access relevant community services and support networks.
To establish and maintain effective links with other services specific to the services users need.
Selection Criteria
The person must be homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The person must be drug/alcohol free for a minimum of five (5) days.
The person must be capable of independent living.
The person should be able to demonstrate a commitment to living in a drug/alcohol free environment and accept the conditions of Quin House.
The person should be willing to participate in programs that require co-operation and interaction with the other residents and staff.
Target Groups & Referrals Homeless men, or those at risk of homelessness, with a self-identified substance abuse problem and who choose to live in a drug and alcohol free environment that enables them to make more informed decisions about their lifestyles.
Referral Process Referrals can be made direct to Quin House. The initial telephone assessment will gather information based on the programs selection criteria. Having met the criteria, and if a vacancy exists, a formal assessment time will be arranged with the person.
