Ozanam Learning Centre

 

What is it?

The Ozanam Learning Centre is an exciting initiative from Matthew Talbot Homeless Services, a Special Work of the St Vincent de Paul Society. As Australia’s largest provider of homeless services, the Centre aims to provide real opportunities for people who are experiencing disadvantage, to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. To achieve this, the Ozanam Learning Centre offers a range of education programs, recreation activities, a drop-in day centre and an extensive information and referral service in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Who is eligible?

Males and females over 18 are able to attend the Ozanam Learning Centre.

What is on offer?

The new Ozanam Learning Centre has programs and courses to suit everyone including:
•    Nationally Recognised Training Courses (NRT) from Statement of Attainment to Certificate II Level in areas such as computer skills, office skills, hospitality, literacy and numeracy skills and graphic design.
•    Vocational and job skills including resume writing, interview and presentation skills.
•    Living Skills such as cooking and nutrition, personal care, communication skills and budgeting.
•    Health Promotion including SMART therapy, regular information sessions on alcohol and other drugs, mental health issues and parenting support groups.
•    Music for all levels including guitar lessons, band jams, opportunity for performances, full recording studio and music therapy.
•    Art and recreation including sculpture, pottery, painting, drama workshops and art therapy.
•    Referral to culturally specific services.
•    Information on government services.

What does it cost?

Free. All that is asked is that you be respectful of others and yourself while at the Centre.
