Ozanam Community Centre

Ozanam Community Centre Dental Surgery

Ozanam Community Centre provides support to men and women who are homeless and/or marginalised. The Ozanam Community Centre works with a strong team approach, striving to provide a high level of professionalism, best practice, innovative frameworks, respect, mindfulness and flexible services within a consistent, safe and comfortable environment for all.

The centre supports the most marginalised and isolated people in the community, who are unable to access traditional treatment services. The Ozanam Community Centre provides basic needs and community on an ongoing basis, for others the centre facilitates engagement with a wide range of services aiming to generate stable and sustainable living, autonomy, and well-being and community connectedness.

The Ozanam Community Centre has approximately 40 facilities, programs, activities and permanent and visiting services on site. These include:

  • Health care services (Royal District Nursing Service (four days a week, GP’s three days per week, Homeless Person’s dental program, optometry and podiatry clinics)
  • Other Visiting Services (including Centrelink, North Melbourne Legal Service, Inner West Outreach Alcohol & Other Drugs)
  • In-house services (Housing information and referral, Client volunteer program, Community Aged Care Packages, Alcohol & Other Drugs Program, Women’s programs, CALD initiatives, client consultation forums, Homeless Advocacy Service)
  • Various Planned Activity Group (Film Club, Bingo and table tennis tournaments, music programs, art workshops, gardening group, chess club, board games)
  • Information and referral (including links to Common Ground, Reclink, Doutta Galla and other community services)
  • Meal services (free breakfast, and a two course lunch with a $2 donation for those who can afford to. Free tea and coffee)
  • Facilities (bathroom including showers, laundry facilities, storage space, central drop-in lounge inc TV, meeting/discussion room, library/reading area, computers (internet access)) 

The service is located in North Melbourne, is a state wide service and currently provides support to up to 150 clients per day.
