Joint Submission on Climate Resilience
This submission was prepared jointly with the Salvation Army and was made to the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment concerning its National Climate Resilience and Adaptation Strategy.
The submission notes that prevention and early intervention generates a much higher return on investment when compared to crisis intervention and that action must be taken at the national level to address the mounting risks posed by climate change and to support communities to respond.
We call on Government to ensure that its climate change response provides for people within our community who have the least means to build resilience and adapt.
We recommend further investment in public services, goods and assets, and a well-targeted social security net.
