National Immersion Program 2013

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Since 2004, the St Vincent de Paul Society has run an annual Immersion Program to the remote Indigenous Community of Nganmarriyanga (Palumpa), in the far north-west of the Northern Territory. It is an intensive two-week immersion experience that gives St Vincent de Paul volunteers the opportunity to experience what it is like to live in a remote community, and gain a better understanding of what it means to be Indigenous in Australia today.

A group of St Vincent de Paul Society volunteers will visit the community in 2013 (30 March – 14 April).  Whilst visiting the community, the group will spend some time in the local school and run activities for young people during the Easter school holidays.

We invite all those interested in learning and experiencing Aboriginal culture in the context of Vincentian spirituality to read the application brochure and consider applying. Please note that applications are open to current St Vincent de Paul Society members and volunteers aged 18-79.

Applications for next year’s Immersion Program will open in Spring 2013.

For more information, please contact us at immersion@svdp.org.au.
