Each year the St Vincent de Paul Society is supported by the generosity of individuals, churches, schools, community groups, corporations, philanthropic trusts and volunteers. The variety of support is invaluable and makes a significant difference to the people we assist.

Volunteering

As a volunteer run organisation, the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society is largely carried out by members of the community who generously give their time to help others. Without the assistance of almost 20,000 volunteers in NSW and the ACT, the Society would be unable to adequately and efficiently help and support the vast numbers of people in need in our local communities. Last year alone, 281,750 people were visited in their homes and on the streets by volunteers.

Volunteers undertake a variety of roles within the Society from answering phones to folding and packing letters to working part-time in our Vinnies Centres and providing pastoral care and support in the Society’s many Special Works. Other volunteers deliver food to the homeless in Night Patrol vans while volunteers at a conference level visit families and people in need in their homes as well as in hospitals, prisons and detention centres.

Make a Donation

The many good works of the St Vincent de Paul Society are only made possible because of the generosity of people like you during Appeal times and because of an ongoing commitment to donate to the Society though one of our donor clubs.

The support we receive enables the Society to successfully fund and manage so many activities, professional services and Special Works that directly help those in need in our community.

It is now possible to direct your donation to support a particular activity or Special Work when you donate through our online facility or alternatively, leave it to the discretion of the Society's State Council to allocate the funds where they are needed most.

You can make a credit card donation by calling our national hotline 13 18 12 or make an online donation here.

Material Assistance

Food, clothing, furnishings, manchester and household items have been generously donated to the Society for many years. Families in need are given these items free of charge while surplus items are sold through our Vinnies Centres to support our good works. If donating your preloved items, it is helpful to the Society if they are washed in advance.

Need help organising a work or school collection? Items such as non-perishable food, warm blankets and good quality clothing are much needed all year round.

Make a Bequest

You can contribute to the good works of the St Vincent de Paul Society and help support people in need by making a bequest to the Society in your will. Over the years, we have been able to help so many people because of the generosity of those who have supported us through a bequest.
