Home Visitation

Home VisitationThe St Vincent de Paul Society is concerned with relieving the poverty needs of the Canberra, Goulburn and surrounding communities. It is also actively involved in redressing the causes of these needs that impact on the lives of children, families, the elderly and the homeless. Through personal contact, our members provide comfort, hope, friendship, material and financial support.

For almost 175 years, Home Visitation has remained the core work of the Society. Inspired by the Society's founders in 1833, Conference members continue to visit people in their homes to provide support, friendship, and material assistance. The Conference responds to a request for help by two members visiting the home and speaking with those seeking assistance. This has always been the core work of the Society and is known as Home Visitation.

This help can come in many forms including assistance with food and clothing, help for migrants and refugees, education support, prisoner visitation, and many more.
