Meet our volunteers

See what it's like to volunteer with our soup vans and in our retail stores.

Volunteering with our mobile soup vans

Frank Mullins has been volunteering with the Fitzroy Soup Van for over 40 years, having shared more than 12,000 hours of his life with people in need. He wants to see the service continue and knows volunteers are key to that.

“We need new people and new minds that think differently to us. It’s a chance to do something for other people, something real.”

Night Patrol provides mobile outreach offering refreshments and friendly faces to people on the streets.

The Night Patrol team are made up of enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers from within the community who receive specialised training to help support people in need.

Volunteering in Vinnies Shops

Simon Felgate is the store manager of the Vinnies Shop in the Canberra suburb of Dickson. He has been in the role for over a year and knows the importance of volunteers at his store.

“We’re always looking for new volunteers. There’s always something to be done here. Without the generosity of our volunteers, the centres would find it very difficult to operate.”

Vinnies has hundreds of stores Australia wide. Revenue raised from the stores enables us to provide vital support services across the country.

Retail volunteer roles include Retail Assistant and Donation Sorting volunteers.
