The St Vincent de Paul Society has an organisational structure of ‘conferences’ and ‘councils’. Conferences are typically small groups of people based in a local school or church that meet together regularly to do good works in their local community by helping those impacted by poverty.
Representatives from conferences in a region join together to form a Regional Council. Regional Councils form Diocesan Councils, which in turn form State Councils and the National Council of Australia. Councils facilitate joint action to assist the effective working of Conferences and Councils. Councils often have ‘Advisory Committees’ to provide advice on aspects of our good works.
