Rachel was nine months pregnant when tragedy struck.
Her husband was severely injured in a dreadful car accident and required intensive care in hospital.
Rachel was soon left to look after her newborn daughter, her toddler son and husband who now had a permanent disability.
Neither Rachel nor her husband could work.
In the middle of this ongoing cost of living and housing crisis, she did not know how the family was going to pay rent, the bills and put food on the table.
Rachel was desperate for help.
Thankfully a kind stranger put her in contact with Vinnies.
One of our wonderful team members, Margie, provided her with the hand up she urgently needed.
This support came in practical ways such as meals for the family, vouchers for nappies, baby clothes, bedding and blankets.
And when electricity prices increased - emergency bill relief was provided.
In addition to the vital practical assistance, Margie provided the emotional support Rachel so desperately needed. Someone to talk to really helped her through some hard times.
Rachel’s family still has a long road ahead of them through their struggles — but they know they have the support of Vinnies to help them through.
Vinnies always strives to help people like Rachel and her family until they are back on their feet.
