Our annual appeals assist us in raising funds so that our voluntary members can continue to provide assistance and offer friendship to those in need.

We invite you to read about our appeals and consider making a donation to assist the St Vincent de Paul Society and its good works. The Society's "Good Works' are very much dependent on your generosity.

In Canberra/Goulburn...

The St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn Central Council relies on your support and donations to help continue it Good Works.

The Society runs three major Appeals each year.

•    The Winter Appeal – begins on 1 May  to the 1 August each year

•    The Christmas Appeal – begins 1 November through to 1 February each year

•    The Annual Doorknock – Runs February to March

Annual Appeals
Our Annual Appeals assist our volunteers in the local areas – Canberra/Goulburn Central Council Region - to provide basic necessities for people who are struggling on a day to day basis.
All donations are used to provide assistance and make available services such as:

  • The Emergency Assistance Call Centre in Phillip ACT;
  • Direct assistance through home visitation in order to provide help with food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance and to offer friendship and counsel;
  • Vinnies Centres where you buy quality second hand goods at low prices;
  • Support for refugees;
  • Holiday camps for children and young carers;
  • A Drop-in centre at the Ainslie Village in Canberra;
  • A Night-Patrol providing food to the homeless in Canberra and Queanbeyan;
  • Special Works including a shelter for homeless men (Canberra and Goulburn), a crisis support centre for women (Goulburn) and accommodation for families (ACT and NSW regions);
  • Vinnies fund a free university course (Clemente) for people who are disadvantaged because of homelessness or mental illness as well as a number of indigenous scholarships;
  • Drought Relief in country areas as well as Breakfast and Lunch programmes in some schools;

Doorknock Appeal
The Vinnies Doorknock  Appeal  is an annual event in the Archdiocese.  Vinnies volunteers and supporters hit the streets in February with the aim of canvassing financial support from the Community.

We invite you to consider making a donation to assist the Society in its “Good Works”.
All donations received are used in the local communities of the Canberra/Goulburn Central Council.
